An Igbosere High Court in Lagos on Monday remanded four suspected members of a cult — Eiye Confraternity —  in Ikoyi Prison for allegedly murdering a politician.

Justice I. O. Akinkugbe, who gave the order, said the accused after they pleaded not guilty, should remain behind bars until the next adjournment.

The accused are Michael Fashola, Mufutau Tokosi, Abidemi Kolawole, and Fatai Onifade.

The accused, whose residential addresses were not given, are standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and murder.

The Lagos State Prosecutor, Mrs O. V. Fagbayi, told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 21, 2017 at 8. 00 p.m. on 41 Road, Festac Town, Lagos.

She said the accused conspired and killed Mr Emmanuel Uba (a.k.a Onwa) after shooting him,

“The accused killed Uba by shooting him in the head with a gun.”

She accused the men of being members of the dreaded cult — Eiye Confraternity.

The offences contravened Sections 220 (1), (b) and 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
