Court remands commercial motorcyclist for defiling 12-year-old girl

A Magistrates’ Court in Minna on Friday ordered that a 30-year-old commercial motorcycle rider, Shehu Isah, for defiling a 12- year- old girl.

The police charged Isah with unlawful sexual intercourse with a child, contrary to Section 18 (2) of the Child Rights Law of Niger State.

Magistrate Binta Rijau remanded the defendant after he pleaded guilty to the charge and begged for forgiveness.

Rijau adjourned the matter until May 21.

The Police Counsel, Insp Thomas Peter, told the court that one Abubakar Mohammed, who lives in Anguwan Daji in Kontagora Local Government Area reported the matter at the station on March 20.

Peter alleged that the complainant said that the accused  lured his daughter, 12, into an uncompleted building and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her.

When the charge was read to him, he pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.

However, the prosecutor prayed the court for adjournment to enable the police ascertain the health condition of the victim so as to apply for damages.  (NAN)
