A Minna Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded one Chidi Johnson, 21, for allegedly stealing a fan and plastic chairs at the New Covenant Glory and Fire Ministry Church, Minna.

The Magistrate, Mr Nasiru Muazu, ordered that Johnson should be kept behind bars, pending the conclusion of the police investigation.

The defendant is facing a two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft, contrary to Sections 287 and 348 of the Penal Code.

The prosecutor, ASP Daniel Ikwoche, told the court that one Pastor Wale Johnson, father of the defendant, reported the case to the Chanchaga Police Station on Feb. 3.

Ikwoche said the complainant alleged that the defendant entered into the Church and stole a standing fan, valued at N17,000 and 50 pieces of plastic chairs valued at N100,000 in September 2018.

Johnson, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, thereafter, prayed the court for adjournment to enable the police complete its investigation.

The case has been adjourned until Feb. 28. (NAN)
