An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded one Solomon Friday, 40, in Kirikiri Prisons over alleged sexual assault of his neighbour’s 13-year-old daughter.

Chief Magistrate Taiwo Akanni refused to listen to the accused plea and ordered him to be remanded in prison custody.

The accused, a factory worker, who resides at 70/72 Dopemu Road, Agege, a suburb of Lagos, is being tried for sexual assault.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offence was committed between Jan. 10 and Feb. 28, 2018 at the accused residence.

Ogu said that the accused, who has been sleeping with the girl since January, warned her not to tell anyone.

“The girl’s father, Mr Ismaila Ali -Alasa, who is the complainant in this case, caught the accused giving his daughter N200 and he scolded her to know what the money was for.

“The girl told her father how the accused has been sleeping with her since two months and always giving her money,” he said.

Ogu added that the case was reported at the police station and the accused was arrested.

The offence contravened Section 269 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Akanni, thereafter, adjourned the case until April 23 for the Director of Public Prosecution ‘s advice. (NAN)
