COVID-19: FRSC Urges Muslims Against Public Gathering During Ramadan

The Sagamu Unit Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, has urged Muslims to desist from public gathering during Ramadan to prevent further spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

The Unit Commander, Mr Iyanda Taofiq, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota, Ogun, on Monday.

Taofiq said that the advice had become necessary in order to reduce the causality rate of the rampaging virus in the state.

He implored the people of the state to avoid any public gathering or place where sermons were being preached.

“People should listen to sermon through radio or television instead of going to places where there are large gatherings.

“Also, they need to maintain social distancing during the Ramadan period because COVID-19 is real,” he said.

Taofiq also urged all Muslims to be closer to God during this period by reading their Quaran in their various homes and praying for quick end to the pandemic.
