Italy reported 24 new COVID-19 deaths on Sunday, the lowest daily figure since March 2, when some 18 fatalities were recorded.

The cumulative death toll from COVID-19 rose to 34,634, while the number of infected climbed to 238,499, up 224 from Saturday, the Civil Protection Agency said in its bulletin.
Lombardy remained the Italian region most affected by the epidemic, with 128 new infections, bringing the total to 92,968, and 16,570 fatalities, up 13 from the previous day.
Nationwide, the number of active cases fell by 240 to 20,972, and intensive care patients fell by four to 148.
At the height of the health crisis, there were more than 4,000 people in intensive care.
Italy was particularly hard-hit by the novel coronavirus pandemic, starting from late February.
The country went into national lockdown in early March and restrictions were gradually eased from early May.
