Prof. Sani Lawan, the Vice-Chancellor of the university,  presented the items to state Commissioner for Health, Dr Abba Zakari, in Dutse on Wednesday.

Sani said the hand sanitisers were produced by the university at the request of the state government.

“We’re here to donate 500 pieces of hand sanitisers locally produced by the university in collaboration with state government.

“This is just the beginning, as we planned to support the state government in the control of the disease,” Sani said.

Receiving the items, Zakari, who is also the Chairman of the state’s Task Force on COVID-19, thanked the university for the gesture.

He said that the sanitisers would go a long way to assist in curbing the spread of the pandemic in the state.

”On behalf of Jigawa government, we wish to thank the management of the Sule Lamido University for this support as it will contribute in curbing the spread of the COVID-19 in the state.

“We hope that the university will continue to research, as it is only through research you can achieve development,” he said.
