Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered a Member of the House of Representatives, Umar Sani Dan Galadima, to produce Faisal Maina, the son of embattled Abdulrasheed Maina in court.

Dan Galadima, who stood as bail surety for Faisal, is the member representing Kaura Namoda Federal Constituency of Zamfara State.

The accused person was granted bail by the court in December 2019 and Dan Galadima stood surety for him upon signing a N60 million bail bond.

However, Justice Abang revoked Faisal’s bail on Tuesday and ordered his trial in absentia.

The judge ruled on Wednesday that the lawmaker has until Friday, December 4 to produce the accused, who is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on money laundering charges.

Justice Abang ruled that Dan Galadima has until December 4 to show cause why, upon failing to produce the accused, he should not forfeit the N60m he pledged while taking Faisal on bail or be sent to prison.

The lawmaker was in court when the judge gave the ruling.

Recall that another federal lawmaker, Senator Ali Ndume (APC – Borno South) was on Monday remanded in prison custody by the same judge for failing to produce Abdulrasheed Maina, for whom he stood surety, in court.

The senior Maina is equally being prosecuted by the EFCC for alleged money laundering to the tune of N2 billion.
