The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has voiced his displeasure over the injection of Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Mr. Femi Otedola into the 2019 presidential campaign council of the incumbent President Muhammad Buhari.

The leading opposition candidate described Dangote and Otedola’s appointment into the presidential campaign council as an act of desperation on the party of the ruling party.

Atiku, who spoke through a PDP presidential campaign spokesman, Kassim Afegbua, queried why Dangote and Otedola, who are successful businessmen, could not be appointed into the president’s economic management team to avail Buhari of their wealth of experience, especially on how to create jobs.

He said the presidential campaign appointment was a plot to blackmail Dangote and Otedola.

The statement read in part, “These people are businessmen, not politicians. These are the kind of people Nigerians expect to see in the economic management team because of what they have done for this country.

“He (Buhari) is simply out to blackmail them because by the time they fund his campaign, he will turn around and call them corrupt businessmen.

“Nigerians can now see for themselves what we have been talking about all this while and we call on them to vote out this grossly incompetent administration, whose stock in trade is blackmail of perceived enemies.”
