Dangote truck burnt, driver escapes after crushing 2 men to death in Ogun

A Dangote Cement truck has been burnt and its driver narrowly escaped lynching after crushing two men to death along Igbogila-Ilaro road in Ogun State.

In the Friday incident, the driver of the truck was said to have driven recklessly, running into and crushing an approaching commercial motorcycle popularly called okada.

The two men that died were identified as the okada rider and his passenger.

The spokesman of the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident.

“According to eyewitness accounts, the Dangote truck driver engaged in reckless driving. He left its lane to face the motorcyclist and the pillion passenger at his back in the other lane and crushed them to death.

“An angry mob later set the Dangote truck on fire while the driver ran away. The case is being handled by the Dangote Plant Police Post,” Akinbiyi said.

He disclosed that the remains of one of the victims had been deposited at Ilaro General Hospital morgue, while the other victim had been buried by the family.
