The wife of former minister of State for Defence Musiliu Obanikoro, Moroophat Obanikoro, has been forced to forfeit her property in Abuja until investigations into her husband and his activities have been concluded.

This was a decision reached by a Federal Capital Territory High Court, sitting in Jabi, Abuja. This is all part of the investigations tied to the $2.1bn arms scam, involving the Office of the National Security Adviser.

She also lost her claim that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) pay her N200 million in damages for violating her fundamental human right.

Justice Y. Halilu who presided over the case stated that he would not stop the EFCC from doing its work and that Nigerians had to come together to fight corruption.

“I shall refuse the application because it is most unmeritorious and specially packaged to deceive this court. God forbid.” He said

Mrs. Moroophat Obanikoro has however challenged the judgment and has appealed against it.
