Nigerian artist Davido has experienced disappointment as he lost all three of his nominations at the 66th Grammy Awards held on February 4th, 2024.
Davido, who made his debut at the Grammys, secured nominations in three prestigious categories, namely Best Global Music Album for “Timeless,” Best African Music Performance, and Best Melodic Music Rap Performance. The artist, recognized for his impactful contributions to the Nigerian music scene, was nominated alongside fellow Nigerian artists, including Asake, Ayra Starr, Olamide, and the renowned Burna Boy.
The highly anticipated Best Global Music Album category saw Davido and Burna Boy both falling short as Shakti’s “This Moment” claimed the coveted award. Additionally, the Best African Music Performance category witnessed Tyla’s “Water” emerging victorious, leaving Davido and his fellow nominees without the Grammy accolade.
While the outcome marked a hat trick of losses for Davido, it’s essential to highlight the significance of the artist achieving his first-ever Grammy nominations.
