Nigerian music sensation Davido has shared his heartfelt struggles with grief and how his faith has been his guiding light through dark times.
In a candid interview with Mystery Fashionist in New York, Davido reflected on the devastating losses he has faced, including the passing of his mother, Victoria Imade Adeleke, at just 11 years old, and the tragic death of his three-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.
Davido also honored the memories of his associates Tagbo, DJ Olu, Obama DMW, and photographer Fortune, who have all passed away.
“Faith has kept me going,” Davido emphasized. “I did a song called ‘Stand Strong.’ I feel like strength and obviously, my faith has kept me going.”
The singer also addressed common misconceptions about himself, stating that he is often misunderstood as being either unapproachable or too accessible.
Davido attributed his down-to-earth nature to his upbringing in a large family, saying, “I grew up in a big family, I’m used to having people around me.”
With unwavering gratitude, Davido acknowledged his talent and success as gifts from God.
