DECLUTTERING 101

There is no place like home, but what happens when our environments are cluttered and disorganized. Most of the time majority of us fall victim to this. We tend to buy both the things we need and the things that are generally not of utmost importance to us. Research has shown that an untidy environment can lead depression. I was once a hoarder, but with time I learnt to let go of the things that I didn’t need and properly organize my living space. No one likes to walk into a messy home because your home reflects who you are. So I will be sharing some beginner friendly decluttering tips that I know would definitely make organizing much easier. These few tools helped me a lot and I hope it helps you too.

Make a list of where you want decluttered writing down the different parts of the house that you want to be organized is a good way to start. It helps you to know the areas that require more attention and those that do not require too much attention. Write down according to priority and designate specific periods of time you give yourself to organize each area. This helps to manage time and keep you from taking too much breaks, because let’s face it, we tend to take a lot of breaks and end up leaving things half done and uncompleted. So listing out the areas to be worked on and designating time frames to them would make organizing much easier.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If it doesn’t fit, bin it or recycle it! Ladies get in here right now, because this is where we ladies mainly have problems especially when it comes to clothes. We tend to keep both the things we need and the things we do not need. If you’re struggling to sort an item into a yes or no pile, ask yourself if you need it and whether or not you actually use it. If the answer is no, it goes away. The only exception to this rule is if the piece has sentimental value. In that case, you can neatly store it in a labeled container or bin. “Ninety-nine percent of the items you get rid of will never cross your mind again.

So far so good you have sorted out those things you feel are taking up unnecessary space in your living space!, I’m sure you are surprised by the amount of things you have laid out in front of you *LOL*, I felt the exact same way when I did the same thing.

*Note: those things you feel can still be useful to someone else should be put up for donation. Don’t throw everything away into the dustbin.

 

Invest in some attractive baskets for storage now you have successful removed all those things that have been taking up space, and you feel you still need more space; storage baskets are your best friend. It helps to keep the home organized while giving it a more modern and appealing look. You can store those things that don’t fit into the available space in a basket. It doesn’t have to be laundry baskets. There are baskets specifically made for storing items and they come in various sizes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Create storage for everything storage doesn’t necessarily have to be cupboards, nowadays there are modern ways to organize different things, it could also serve as a form of aesthetics to the living space. Hangers for your shirts and drawers for your trousers or jeans would help create space for other things, compartmentalize items by using boards to make more spaces, make use of hooks to hang some things.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You did it!!! Yaaayyy, you have officially decluttered your living space, I’m sure it must be an amazing feeling to see how much space you actually have and how accomplished you must feel to have completed this much dreaded task. Now you have more space and you put a smile on someone’s else’s face by donating those things you didn’t need.

These few tools above helped me a lot to rearrange my space and make it what I really want. If you judiciously follow the above listed, you will definitely revamp your living space.
