Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta on Sunday said his administration inherited about N100 billion unpaid pensions under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).

A security aide to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Friday Eluro, has got the sack after he was caught on video assaulting a woman.

Eluro was said to have instructed his boys to tie up, strip and beat one Dada, a mother of one, who allegedly insulted him.

According to a statement through his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu, the governor expressed shock that a government appointee who ought to be a custodian of law and order could be assaulting a woman, which could lead to breach of the peace.

Okowa also ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident to ensure the interest of justice is served.

The governor warned all government appointees to be good ambassadors and representatives of the administration, adding that he would not hesitate to deal decisively with any appointee that contributes to breakdown of law and order in the state.

The statement read in part, “Governor Okowa, having watched the video of the assault on the woman, has directed that the appointment of Eluro be terminated forthwith to serve as deterrent to others.

“In the last three and half years, our administration has worked so hard to entrench the enduring peace in our state and we will not sit back and fold our hands to watch appointees of government or any other person no matter how highly placed in the society to take laws into their hands.”
