Delta Police Arrest Pastor for Allegedly Using His Church for Gun Running

Police in Delta State say they have arrested a pastor for using allegedly using his church for gun running in the state.

The resident pastor of Christ Holy Church was accused by the police of gun running and employing vigilantes from Anambra state as security for churches and hotels in the area.

Six pump action rifles were recovered by the police from the church compound at the time of his arrest.

According to the the Commissioner of Police for Delta State, Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa who confirmed the arrest,

“Some people from across the Niger have started or are bringing in vigilantes, bringing criminals to Delta in the name of providing security to either churches or hotels, forgetting the fact that it is illegal to do that because a vigilante from another state cannot come and operate in their state.

“Secondly, they’re carrying sophisticated firearms. Thirdly, there is every indication that once they bring these people, they are also engaged in criminality. So, we have recovered six pump actions.”

The head of the vigilante group identified as Freeman was also arrested by the police.
