Democrazy Day: How Nigerian Governors Prove There Is Absolutely Nothing To Celebrate

4 Min Read

The Nigerian political climate is everything bizarre and a gross theater of the absurd. If anyone has seen the video clip (well more like audio clip) of the Nigerian Governors Forum’s recent election, one will come away with the astute observation that there is no honesty on the lips of our leaders. With grown men like Peter Obi, Jonah Jang and Olusegun Mimiko all claiming what they know for a fact to be false, are we not doomed as a people.

Even more disheartening is to watch 36 men responsible for the lives of a 150 million people bickering like schoolgirls. The voice of Akpabio can be heard semi-threatening whomever was recording the video, and then he backed down. However this is a man who governs over a state where the security situation deteriorates to a ‘warzone’ crisis ever general election. Yet he was cowed in the presence of his equals. He couldn’t deliver to his Presido, yet he claims to be a bringer of the dividends of democracy to his people.

We have no democracy in this country, only demonstration of the craziness lying deep within the heart of the West African man and the African man at large. These are the men who will bring down Nigeria in 2015 with their childish selfishness, rigging, greed and corruption in 2015. Let posterity show them no reprieve.

Here are some comments from some of the viewers of the video which has already received over 23,000 views on Youtube.

“I use to think Segun Mimiko was a man of intregrity until now. He has brought shame to the people of Ondo state. Politics of deceit and lies. Mimiko and his labor party needs to be kicked out of Ondo state for good. Omo ale.” – femabits

“Speechless! Akpabio, Jang and that gutless Mimiko, as well as the rest of their gang, should bury their heads in shame. So glad YouTube will still be in existence for hundreds of years to come so their future generations will truly see how their ancestors behaved while on earth, and not some fathomed rubbish from a yet-to-be-published history textbook or autobiography.” – Ifeanyi Ibeh

“Hard to imagine that some of our supposed rulers had crafted a plan that if their man didn’t appear to be winning the election then the process should be truncated! Meaning that they were unwilling to accept any other outcome but their own! They had abrogated the right to foist their own choice on the people and were arrogant enough to be absolute in their decision to refuse to accept a fair electoral result! Sounds very much like June 12, doesn’t it? A bunch of people who forget to remember…” – Yomi Ogunrinola

“Are these pple our leaders? Are these, the pple that pilot the affairs of our country, Nigeria? Let’s drop the issue of whether the election was free and fair for a moment and talk about the attitudes of these “characters” we call governors. For a moment I thought it was a NURTW elections. Smh. And the man clearing his throat though. It is well. May God help us all.” – Celestine Mkpozi

Happy Democrazy Day people!!!
