Samuel Melaye, brother to Senator Dino Melaye has been remanded into custody in Kuje prison over a criminal conspiracy charge.
Melaye was sentenced by a chief magistrate’s court in Mpape.
Samuel Melaye wasn’t the only one charged, three others including Amaefula David, Pius Inyang and Mohammed Wazari were also involved and they were said to have been the ones behind Dino’s failed escape bid.
Recall that Dino Melaye who was arrested a few days ago attempted to escape from the vehicle transporting him to Abuja by jumping.
The escape attempt failed and instead Dino got badly injured and had to be taken to the hospital.
According to the police report, the defendants were alleged to have “jointly conspired and attacked a team of police officers from the office of the Inspector-General of Police S.T.S FHQ, Abuja while conveying Senator Dino Melaye to the court in Lokoja, Kogi Statein Area One Roundabout, Abuja”.
Melaye and co pleaded not guilty to the charges and then the presiding magistrate ordered that the four be remanded in prison until Monday, April 30, the adjourned date for ruling on the bail application.
