The union between Fatima Ganduje and Idris Ajimobi, the daughter and son of the Kano and Oyo State governors has been labelled a disgrace to Islam by a popular Muslim cleric, Ahmed Gumi.

According to Gumi, he was of the opinion that the couple did not handle themselves with respect and that their conduct reflected badly on their parents.

In an 8-minute video, which was partially translated by PREMIUM TIMES, the cleric also stated that a picture in which the husband cuddled his wife, which has caused a lot of controversies online,  was not different from the music video which saw Rahma Sadau kicked out of Kannywood and therefore their actions legitimised such behaviour.

Gumi words; “Look at what happened in Kano. That thing really upset me. The daughter of the governor cuddling in the presence of people. Yet it was the same state that sanctioned an actress for cuddling someone in a musical video. Now the daughter of the governor has done it which means it is now legal.

“Where is the so-called hisbah in the state? This is the kind of leaders we elect. I am calling on the people of Kano fear Allah. This is the height of immorality and to also remind you of what happened to Borno state. You should not provoke Allah.”

The lavish wedding which featured all the heavyweights in the political sphere including President Buhari, Bola Tinubu and the Emir of Kano along with at least 20 state governors, was heavily criticised as many wondered why something so lavish could take place against the backdrop of the violence eating up the North and North-East.
