The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, may have defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as he has reportedly picked Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to return to the House in 2019.

Dogara currently represents Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa- Balewa Federal Constituency in the Lower Chamber of the National Assembly.

According to The Punch, a top brass of the party confirmed this development on Wednesday night.

The source, said to be a member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, was quoted as saying, “Yes, he has picked our forms, but don’t quote me. He has joined us.”

This came as APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole expressed confidence in Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, with whom Dogara is said to be having a running battle.

Dogara recently informed his constituents of his desire to return to the House in 2019, but failed to disclose the party platform on which he would contest.

He was said to have picked the PDP forms following his fear that the APC no longer had confidence in him.

It could not be immediately confirmed when Dogara planned to make his defection public.

Recall that his Senate counterpart, Dr Bukola Saraki, publicly announced his defection from the ruling APC to the PDP on July 31.

Saraki is currently vying for the presidential ticket of the PDP.
