President Donald Trump who is facing two impeachment charges may be removed by the vote of the House today Wednesday, December 18. The House will be voting either in favour of Trump or in favour of the impeachment.

The impeachment charges against Trump include obstruction of Congress, by refusing to co-operate with the impeachment probe, barring staff from testifying and holding back documentary evidence; and attempting to use his office to pressure Ukraine to investigate his Democratic political rival, Joe Biden.

President Trump had declined to honour the invitation by the Democratic chair of the House Judiciary Committee “to give evidence in the impeachment process, which would also have allowed his legal team to question witnesses” BBC reported.

However, on Tuesday, Trump took a swing at Nancy Pelosi, top Democrat, in a letter to her,  accusing her of declaring “open war on American democracy” according to reports.

Trump wrote in the letter that,

“You have cheapened the importance of the very ugly word, impeachment!”

“deprived of basic Constitutional Due Process from the beginning of this impeachment scam” and “denied the most fundamental rights afforded by the Constitution, including the right to present evidence”.

“More due process was afforded to those accused in the Salem Witch Trials,”

Pelosi in response to the letter disclosed to reporters at the Capitol that she had not read the letter in full but had seen “the essence” of it and thought it was “really sick”.

While announcing Wednesday’s vote on Trump’s impeachment, she expressed confidence that the House would “exercise one of the most solemn powers granted to us by the constitution”.
