The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has issued an order barring unauthorised members of the party from making statements on behalf of the party.

Oyegun stated that only the National Chairman and National Publicity Secretary is authorised to make any valid statement on behalf of the party.

In a statement through the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Lai Mohammed on Friday, the chairman warned all concerned to heed the directive or face the music.

According to the statement, Oyegun said: “It has come to the attention of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that unauthorized persons have recently been issuing statements on behalf of the party.

“This is totally wrong and unacceptable as only the National Chairman and the National Publicity Secretary can speak for the party on national issues.

“Therefore, any member of the National Working Committee (NWC) or the party generally who wishes to speak on behalf of the party should expressly clear such statement with the National Chairman of our great party.

State Publicity Secretaries were also warned to restrict their statements to their states and avoid going beyond their briefs by making statements for the party as a whole.

“It is expected that all concerned will adhere strictly to this guideline,” the chairman declared.
