Former governor of Abia State and Founder of the Slok Group, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu has announced that the group will flood the Nigeria market with it’s new range of laptos/computers.
He made the news public at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, where he visited the University’s Vice Chancellor Prof Benjamin Ozurumba.
Dr. Orji Uzo Kalu along with his entourage visited the University to give out the first range of laptops produced by the slok group to it’s Economics department and also the Vice Chancellors office.
Speaking at the venue, the philanthropist also promised to partner with the university and deliver more computers to it’s students at a subsidized rate, to aid learning and teaching in the institution.
“What I have just given to you today are from Slok Technology and they are the first we have produced, they have 100 per cent local content. In less than six weeks, our computer sets will flood the Nigerian market and people will know the difference”, Kalu promised.
Dr. Kalu promised that his NGO, the OUK Foundation will henceforth award excellence in the University.
He said that a sum of 500,000 naira will be awarded to the best graduating student in the university, while the best graduating
students in the School of Social Sciences and the Department of Economics would each receive N250,000.
The Vice chancellor of the University, Prof Ozurumba, expressed delight at the humane donation of the ex-governor.
“I had to reschedule most of my engagements for the day because of the coming of this great achiever who conquered
his world at an early stage of his life, to accord him the respect of the university community which he thoroughly deserved,” he said.
