Barons Caught With Concealed Drugs Worth Over N2.5billion

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) will go after owners and operators of supermarkets and confectionery  selling cookies, biscuits and other products laced with illicit substances.

Two persons have been arrested in connection with a drug related case in Yahe-Ikom transnational route, Calabar.

Mrs Anthonia Edeh, the state National Drug law Enforcement Agency’s director, revealed information about the drugs, stating that 76,050 kilograms of methamphetamine and 100.1kg of ephedrine, valued at N2.5billion was intercepted during a ‘stop and search’ exercise by the NDLEA.

The suspects, Mr Azuka Emmanuel and Ndubuisi Okafor, have been arrested in connection with the drugs.

Eden, who called on the public to be cooperative and to also stay away from drug activities, also explained the method the drug baron’s applied in packaging the drugs.

According to her, the Methamphetamine was concealed in synthetic Golden Morn cereal packs, while the ephedrine was hidden inside Semovita packs and five industrial fillers.

The director also commended the officers for their diligence in their job, and said that the suspects will be followed up accordingly.
