DSS Boss Gives In to Pressure from Buhari Cabal

The acting Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr Mathew Seiyefa, has bowed to pressure from the presidency.

The security operative who took over from Lawal Daura as the DSS boss, has recalled officers he transferred out of the headquarters of the security agency.

The directive was said to have been given by rumoured Buhari cabal member, Abba Kyari, who also plays the role of the chief of staff.

According to the Punch, Seiyefa was berated by Kyari who criticised the acting DG of carrying out major moves such as those without clearance from the seat of power.

Seiyefa took over after the ousted DG was said to have carried out the siege of the National Assembly using the DSS, which took place on the 7th of August

On assuming office, Seiyefa made a couple of moves including the transfers of the Director of Operations, Mr Bassey Eteng,  and another Director,  Grace Kentebe.

Both operatives have now been recalled on the directive of Kyari

According to a Source of the Punch, morale is low after this interference by Kyari

“There is tension everywhere because the directive has been complied with by personnel, most especially by those who instigated it.

“Both Eteng and Kentebe have reported. Personnel morale is at its lowest ebb.” said the source

“Even quite a significant number of the personnel of northern extraction are not happy with the Chief of Staff because they said himself and the ousted DG had not been good to the service.

“Meanwhile, there is every possibility that the service may witness an unprecedented protest against the undue interference in the affairs of the service by the Chief of Staff to the President.”

There have been reports that some Buhari loyalists are unhappy with the sack of Daura and want to oust Seiyefa as the head of the DS because of his Bayelsa heritage feeling that it might affect Buhari’s chances of winning re-election.
