The Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday produced 12 aides of the Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho in court in obedience to a Federal High Court order issued on July 29.

The detainees, who were guarded by a heavy security unit, arrived at the court in an 18-seater Toyota Hiace bus with registration number  Abuja 785 KWL.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the FHC had on July 26 ordered the secret police to produce the suspects on Thursday, July 29.

When the DSS failed to heed the order, the judge issued a fresh order on the same day for the suspects to be produced in court on Monday, August 2.

When the matter came up for hearing on Monday, the court called a brief recess as Mr Idowu Awo, lawyer to the DSS, was said to be held up in traffic.

Recall that the 12 persons were arrested on July 1, 2021, during a midnight raid on the Soka, Ibadan residence of Igboho.

The secret police had said its operatives killed two other associates of Igboho in a “gun duel” during the raid.
