DSS To Grill Oshiomhole Again

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, is not out of the woods yet over the bribery allegations laid against him by some governors.

This is after indications emerged that he could return to the office of the Department of State Services (DSS) for further interrogation over his conduct of the APC primaries across the nation, as he was accused of taking bribes to influence the outcome in some states.

Recall that The Herald reported how  Oshiomhole faced a gruelling nine-hour questioning in DSS custody on Sunday before travelling out of the country.

However, The Punch, quoting unnamed sources, reported that Oshiomhole would report to DSS office for further interrogation upon his return to the country.

“The comrade (Oshiomhole) is expected to return for further interrogation when he returns to the country. That’s why we released him on administrative bail.

“We are still looking at his statements and also carrying out further investigations. This type of operation is not meant for the members of the public.

“Rather, we will brief the President when the report is ready. Oshiomhole is the national chairman of the President’s political party. He deserves to know our report first,” the paper quoted one of the sources as saying.

This followed revelations that President Muhammadu Buhari was informed by the Director General of DSS, Yusuf Bichi and gave his consent before Oshiomhole was initially interrogated.

Oshiomhole, who replaced John Odigie-Oyegun barely five months ago, is currently enmeshed in a battle with some state governors over APC primaries as some of them felt slighted that they could not secure party tickets for their preferred candidates.

Some of the affected governors are also said to be mounting pressure on the president to compel Oshiomhole to do their bidding.
