Eagles To Play Cape Verde

The Super Eagles will play a final friendly against the debutantes who eliminated the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in their final friendly ahead of the AFCON Arrangement is almost concluded by the Nigeria Football Federation for the Super Eagles to play Cape Verde in Faro, Portugal before Eagles’ first match in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Goal.com scooped from sources close to the national team that the NFF is excited about the friendly and has gone far in discussions with the country.

“You know that what the Eagles need in the final stages of their preparations for the 2013 AFCON is quality African opposition. The NFF has been able to perform creditably well in this regard.

“The NFF has already sealed the Catalonia friendly which would be played on January 2nd, 2013. The Super Eagles will also square up against the national team of Angola in Faro, Portugal while undergoing their final camping exercise in Portugal.

“The Nigeria Football Federation is in talks with Cape Verde and I would say the deal is almost sealed. So it is almost certain that the Super Eagles will play what looks like Nigeria’s final friendly match before they start their Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa next year,” the impeccable source told Goal.com in Abuja.

Debutants Cape Verde eliminated former African champions Cameroon from the 2013 AFCON race.
