Ebola: WHO Warns West African Countries to Be on High Alert

World Health Organisation has warned West African countries to be on high alert although West Africa will soon be declared completely Ebola free, new cases may still reoccur as the virus can persist in survivors.

Bruce Aylward, WHO’s Special Representative for the Ebola Response in a statement said “All known chains of transmission have been stopped in West Africa.

“We are now at a critical period in the Ebola epidemic as we move from managing cases and patients to managing the residual risk of new infections.

“We still anticipate more flare-ups and must be prepared for them.”

Meanwhile Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that his country has created a highly effective cure for Ebola.

Putin told Russia’s cabinet of ministers and a group of journalists that “We have good news. We have registered a cure for the Ebola virus, which, after corresponding testing, is showing a high effectiveness, much higher than the treatments used in the world at the moment.”
