During the EndSARS movement, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu berated the Federal Government for not properly responding to the menace the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) pose to Nigerian youths.

He slammed the administration in a tweet while contributing to the #EndSARS campaign.

There were renewed calls for SARS to be disbanded or properly restructured after a young man was reportedly gunned down in Ughelli, Delta State by suspected SARS personnel who proceeded to flee in his white Lexus SUV.

As Acting President in 2018, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo directed then Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to overhaul the unit.

He equally ordered the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to probe the allegations of human rights violations against the unit.
