Governor Nyesom Wike was appointed as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national council for the Edo Governorship campaign and is in Benin in that capacity.

The Governor stated that he is not going anywhere as long as Governors Ganduje Kano and Uzodinma of Imo were also in the city carrying out their various assignments for their party the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike stated that he was being harassed in breach of the peace accord signed before the election. He said the people of Rivers State will hold the Inspector General of Police accountable if anything happens to their Governor.
