Edo Catholic Priests Develop Drug to Combat Coronavirus

Catholic Priests belonging to the Benedictine Monastery, Ewu in Edo State have developed a herbal based medicine to combat coronavirus in the state.

This was announced by Pax Herbal Clinic and Research Laboratory, Edo State who published a statement signed by Father Anslem Adodo OSB.

The statement revealed that the drug was plant based and easy to produce and store. It was developed to address the urgency for the need of a cure for the Coronavirus.

The production of the drug also involved experts from the University of Lagos, University of Benin, Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, NAFDAC and NIPRD.

The statement said further that the medicine could be handled by medical and non medical personnel and posed a low risk of contamination.

The drug is composed of of antiviral and immunodulatory agents that help stimulate antibodies that fight the coronavirus.

Father Anslem said he was grateful to the head of the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Research, Prof. Tunde Salako as well as the DG of NAFDAC, Prof. Adeyeye for their interest, support and encouragement.
