Edo governor, Obaseki goes into self-isolation over Coronavirus

Governor Godwin Obaseki has gone into self-isolation, following his attendance at the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and National Economic Council (NEC) meetings.

This was contained in a statement issued by Obaseki’s media aide, Crusoe Osagie, on Wednesday, March 25.

The Herald gathered that the meetings were also attended by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state and Abba Kyari, the chief of staff of President Buhari, both of whom have tested positive for coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Osagie made it clear that Obaseki at the moment has not exhibited any symptom of the virus.

Recall that Abba Kyari had tested positive to the deadly Coronavirus. It would be recalled that Kyari travelled to Munich, Germany on March 7th to have a meeting with Siemens officials on the Nigeria electricity expansion project.

The president’s Chief of Staff also visited Egypt in the company of Executive Chairman of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Prof James Momoh.

Germany has recorded  29,056 infections and 123 deaths of Coronavirus while Egypt has 327 confirmed cases of Coronavirus and 14 deaths.

Abba Kyari has attended meetings with President Buhari, Vice President Osinbajo among other top government officials while coughing severely according to a report by Sahara Reporters. He has been placed under isolation since his test results emerged.

Meanwhile, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had earlier disclosed that the threat posed by coronavirus in Nigeria is not yet over.

Osinbajo made this known in Abuja when flagging off the free nationwide integrated medical outreach programme at Bwari area council primary health centre.

The vice president explained that the federal government has started making efforts to contain the disease. He, however, urged Nigerians to continue to observe hygiene advisories.

Osinbajo disclosed further that the government has begun examining the readiness of healthcare facilities in the country to handle whatever eventualities may arise.
