Edo Polls: INEC Declares Winner Of Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced the winner of the Edo state governorship polls.

INEC today declared the All Progressive Congress, APC, candidate, Mr Godwin Obaseki, as the winner of the Edo State governorship election which held on Wednesday.

The results showed that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Pastor Ize-Iyamu came in second.

The results announced showed that the APC won in 13 of the 18 local government areas of the state.

The Local Government areas won by the APC include; Akoko-Edo LGA, Ikpoba-Okha, Etsako West, Etsako East, Etsako Cenral, Owan East LGA, Ovia North LGA, Oredo LGA, Uhunwomnde, Igueben LGA, Egor LGA, Owan West LGA.

Meanwhile, the PDP candidate, Ize Iyamu has rejected the results. He said: “The Figures announced by INEC do not represent the massive turnout. We have told our agents to bring all the results issued at the polling units. We do not want to rely on the messages they sent.

“In the next three or four days, we will have complete record. From findings, it is clear a lot of manipulation has taken place.”
