Prof. Abdulraheem Lawal, Chief Imam of the Isasi Central mosque, Ojo, Lagos on Wednesday admonished Muslim faithful to continue their good and noble deeds, even beyond the month of Ramadan.

Lawal gave the admonition during his Eid Fitri sermon at the mosque.

He said that Ramadan was a “training ground” for morality and abstainance, and advised Muslims not to fall back into sin.

“It is true that the Ramadan has ended but that is not a passport for us to fall back into immoral acts and sin.

“The fact that we can abstain from sinful and immoral acts for 30 days is an indication that we can continue to live a holy life, if we are willing.

“Immorality is a major cause of most of the problems we have in the society and we should try to desist from it,” he said.

The cleric also called on government to take urgent steps to address the sufferings of the masses, while advising Nigerians to support government in its efforts to rebuild the country.

“There is suffering in the land and the common man is most affected; government should take urgent steps to alleviate their sufferings.

“We know that government is fighting corruption but the wellbeing of the masses is also a priority that must not be ignored.

We, the masses, should also cooperate with government in its effort to rebuild Nigeria and tackle our economic and social challenges, ” he stressed.

He advised Muslims to remain steadfast in their daily prayers and to extend love and care to their neighbours.
Gaily dressed Muslim faithful came out in large numbers to offer the two Rakka Eid prayers, which marked the end of the Ramadan fast. (NAN)
