A member of Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Tunde Braimoh, has called on Nigerians to sustain confidence in President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government in spite of prevailing economic challenges.
Braimoh (APC-Kosofe II) made the call in his Eid-el-Kabir message to the Muslim faithful and Nigerians.
“It (Eid-el-Kabir) is a reminder of faith, confidence and loyalty. As Nigerians, we must strive to believe in our leaders while the leaders must in reciprocity keep their words to the people.
“This is the bond and synergy that may engender the desired growth, development peace and security.
“Let’s pray for divine intuition, speed and enablement for the leadership as it struggles to realign and redress the fortunes of Nigeria from the misfeasance and misrule of the past,
“Let’s also pray for divine support for the people to be kept and blessed in the current situation between the low and the high that we are now,” Braimoh said.
The lawmaker, who is the Chairman of the Committee on Information, Strategy and Security in the assembly, congratulated Muslims on the sallah.
He said, “I felicitate and celebrate with all Islamic faithful, my brothers and sisters as we commemorate the annual Eid-el-Kabir.
“It is indeed an occasion divinely endowed and allowed to feel festive and make merry.
“We therefore should be indebted to Allah the Almighty for affording us such a sunny season of cheer, conviviality and camaraderie.
“As we celebrate however, let the reason and indeed the lessons of the season not be lost on us.
“The season is celebrated in reminiscence and remembrance of the rare belief and obeisance of Allah by Prophet Ibrahim. Above all, I wish us all a happy, blissful and peaceful celebration.’’
He prayed God to bless Nigeria and that Nigerians should do only things that would make the nation happier and greater. (NAN)
