“People in spite of the unpaid salaries, deem it fit to make the city habitable, this is a welcome development,” Ayelese said.

Another resident, Mrs Toyin Micheal, a civil servant, told NAN that the fact that salaries arrears had not be paid, does not mean I must live in a dirty environment.
“Even the Holy Bible says cleanliness is next to Godliness, we cannot be hungry and still have disease outbreak in the state,” she said.

In his reaction, the State Commissioner for Environment, Mr Bisi Kolawole reiterated the commitment of government to make the state epidemic free.

“It is the determination of the Ekiti Government to ensure a clean environment always no matter what, and that is exactly what you have seen us doing

“In the spirit of this avowed commitment, we are doing everything humanly possible to ensure that the current circumstance does not in any way slow down our sanitation records,’’ he said.
NAN reports that a drive round Ado-Ekiti town revealed that government dusting bins, which are placed at strategic locations for collection of waste are properly disposed. (NAN)
