Ekiti Guber: Fayose Thanks Buhari’s Minister Chris Ngige For “Campaigning” For Him

2 Min Read

A mild drama ensued on Tuesday when the Minister for Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, in a slip of tongue repeatedly urged Ekiti people to vote for outgoing Governor, Ayodele Fayose, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the state’s gubernatorial election scheduled for Saturday, July 14.

Ngige, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the blunder in Ado Ekiti at the APC Mega Rally for the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi, whom he had wanted to mention.

He said, “Fayose is the better wife. He cooks very well. Mr. President when Fayose cooks the food is sweet. So people of Ekiti you must bring Fayose back on Saturday.

However, the  former Special Adviser to President Buhari on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Matters, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa corrected the former Anambra State Governor.

Ngige then jokingly corrected his blunder.

However, Fayose, whose deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, is the PDP candidate in the election, would not allow the error slide.

Taking to his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday morning, Fayose thanked the minister for “campaigning” for him.

Appearing to mock the minister, Fayose tweeted: “I thank my good friend, Dr Chris Ngige for campaigning for me at the APC rally in Ado Ekiti yesterday. Dr. Ngige is a man who is not always afraid to say the truth and that’s what he demonstrated yesterday even in the presence of the President and other APC leaders.”
