Former Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose has been renamed the leader of the PDP in Ekiti state mere hours after it was announced that he had been removed

The State Executive Committee of the PDP distanced itself from the decision of stakeholders who had recommended that the former Governor be removed from that role and be replaced by Senator Biodun Olujimi

The SEC released a statement after its meeting in the Ekiti state capital in which it alleged that Senator Olujimi and a former PDP’s state secretary, Dr. Tope Aluko were in cahoots with opposition party APC, and were bent on destabilising the party

The statement apart from reinstating Fayose, also reiterated that Aluko, who had led some aggrieved party members on an invasion of the party’s offices in Ekiti over what they claimed were suspicious withdrawals from the party’s bank account, was banished from the party.

The statement read in part: “That any facilitation of crisis in the party this time of approaching election is regarded as an anti-party activity.

“That the promoters of the crisis are agents of APC government employed to destabilise the party in the run-up to the presidential election.

“PDP in Ekiti State under the leadership of Gboyega Oguntuase is committed to the success of all its candidates in the coming elections especially our presidential candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku.

“That we affirm and believe in the leadership of Dr Ayodele Fayose.”
