Eko 2012: LOC Offers Free Cinema, Tours To Athletes, Officials

As part of Lagos State hospitality, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 18th National Sports Festival tagged Eko 2012 is offering a free cinema and boat cruising to athletes and officials.
According to the LOC Secretary General, Kweku Tandoh, the essence of this was to make the participants to feel at home and also ensure their stay in Lagos.

For the cinema, films would be shown the games village at UBA Park, Tinubu Hall and Moremi Hall in UNILAG, while at films would also be shown at the Yaba College of Technology and Federal College of Education, Akoka.

He said: “As most of the athletes are in the mood for the games, it became necessary for them to want to relax in the evening and that is why we have put this in place for them to enjoy themselves after each day. The film will start at 8pm each day till Friday December 7 at hall the games village. It is important that we treat all our visitors to a nice time.”

With the boat cruising and bus tour, which began on Sunday, Tandoh said that this would also be on a daily basis with all the athletes and officials qualify to be part of the experience.

“The boat cruising started at the weekend and we have decided to make it a daily basis and we will be glad if athletes and officials can avail themselves the opportunity to be part of the experience. It is free for all athletes and officials that have been accredited for the games. The stands of See Lagos, Feel Lagos are dotted all over the venues, while the land tour will be done on an open double-decker bus. We want all participants to always remember the experience days, months and years after the festival,” the LOC secretary said.
