Eko DISCO To Compensate Family Of Dead UNILAG Student

Some succour is coming the way of the family of late UNILAG student, Oluchi Anekwe as the Eko Electricity Distribution Company is set to compensate her family over her wrongful death.

According to the Vice Chancellor of the oldest university in Lagos, the Eko DISCO has been found responsible for the negligence leading to Ms. Anekwe’s death which occured on September 8th when an 11KV overhead transmission line fell on the student as she walked to her hostel.

UNILAG VC, Professor Rahmon Bello said,

“The Federal Government panel findings has established that the faulty cable which caused Oluchi’s death belong to EKEDP and they must pay compensation to the family of the deceased.

“EKEDP has put in place an Assurance Policy by an Insurance company whereby a compensation will be paid to family of a deceased in case of lost of life. The Insurance company has been contacted to come and assess the damage and give their recommendations for compensation. As soon as this is done, we will know the amount.’’
