Lawyers berate police for concluding Ekweremadu’s assassination attempt burglary

The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has just escaped an assassination attempt alongside his wife and son at his residence in Abuja.

The incident was announced by Ekweremadu’s Special Adviser on Media, Uche Anichukwu who said the attack occurred around 4:00am on Tuesday morning at the residence of the DSP at Apo Quarters, FCT Abuja.

The attackers who were said to be armed breached the compound security and entered the house of the Deputy Senate President.

They proceeded to capture his son and forced him to lead them to the bedroom of his father.

A scuffle ensued in the bedroom after the men gained entry after which one of them was captured while the others escaped.

The Special Assistant said further that the captured member of the assault team refused to reveal any information regarding his role in the attack before being handed over to men of the Nigeria Police.

Senator Ike Ekweremadu had earlier escaped death by assassination in Abuja November 17, 2015 although it only involved the senator.

This time however, his wife and son were in the house at the time of the attack.
