In a recent revelation, Nasir El-Rufai, the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, has asserted that his support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2023 election was not driven by personal gain.
El-Rufai, who was a key figure among the Northern governors of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), had been a staunch advocate for a Southerner to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the party’s primary election. This stance ultimately led to Bola Tinubu’s emergence as the party’s candidate and subsequent victory over Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).
Recently, El-Rufai has openly criticized both the Tinubu administration and the APC, resulting in a series of heated exchanges between him and some presidential aides on the social media platform X.
In a recent post on X, El-Rufai emphasized that his political actions were devoid of any personal expectations, describing the ongoing events as reflections of human nature.
“We did what we did for God, country, and party, expecting nothing in return. What is unfolding is merely another life experience and part of human nature. We have moved on, but their conscience won’t let them sleep well. Thanks anyway,” he tweeted.
