In keeping with its commitment to empower the development of more intellects in the fields of Computer Science and Technology, Emerging Platforms Group in partnership with the National Open University of Nigeria launched the “Award of Merit” which will be awarded to the best graduating student in Masters of Information Technology.
The Award of Merit, which was officially launched at the recently held 5th Convocation Ceremony of the National Open University of Nigeria for the 2015/2016 academic year, is the first of its kind for Emerging Platforms Group and holds the promise of recognizing excellence in other academic fields.
Commenting at the event, Emerging Platforms Group CEO, Mr Kola Aina noted that; excellence is a fundamental component of the EPG’s corporate culture. According to him “the award presentation event underscores EPG’s emphasis on hard-work and qualitative education. He also mentioned that “we identify excellence wherever we find ourselves and also foster a practice of diligence within our system. We are deliberate in our actions and seek to perform at the best standard of excellence. We are also dedicated to identifying, developing, and inspiring and supporting individuals, who aspire to become successful, most especially in the area of Information.
“With a reputation for best practices in technology advancement, EPG continues to set the pace in education technology. The group which aims at rewarding talents in information technology, is taking keen interest in spreading the Merit Award category to other Tertiary institutions not forgetting the Secondary and Primary schools where we are also actively involved” , he added.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Vice Chancellor of National Open University, Professor Vincent Tenebe, who said the award was to motivate students who performed well and also challenge their counterparts to work hard towards academic excellence.
He concluded by immensely appreciating the commitment of Emerging Platforms Group, whose partnership in matters of Education Technology has created a congenial atmosphere for all students to excel.
