Emir, district head in trouble for helping bandits in Zamfara

Zamfara State government has suspended the Emir of Maru, Alhaji Abubakar CIKA Ibrahim and the District Head of Kanoma town, Alhaji Ahmed Lawal for their conspiring with bandits within their domains.

In a statement issued by the Director-General Media and Publicity to the state Governor, Alhaji Yusuf Idris, the State government, under the leadership of Alhaji Bello Mutawalle has approved the suspension of the two monarchs, following series of petitions against them by their subjects.

The monarchs have been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of their domains and proceed on leave pending an investigation into their alleged involvement in armed banditry activities.

The two leaders come from Maru LGthe where banditry is believed to have started when some people were killed in Langido village in 2011.

Recall that, before leaving office,  former governor Abdulzi’z Yari suspended six district heads suspected to be part of the bandits menace.
