The Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Lolo Cecelia Ezeilo, as well as Award-winning musician, Chinedu Izuchukwu Okoli popularly known as Flavour on Tuesday joined the End SARS protests on the streets, seeking an end to police brutality on civilians in the country.

 

The protest which kicked off from Okpara Square had youths from different parts of the eastern Nigerian state who put their voices together with youths from other parts of the country demanding for an end to the unlawful operations and activities of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

Also, Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, popularly known as Phyno and another Igbo rapper, Zoro were part of the protesters.

The End SARS protest which is the number one trending topic in the world on twitter which goes by the hashtag #EndSARS has seen scores of protesters shot by the police officers meant to protect.

People who got shot sustained major and minor injuries while others who were not lucky enough lost their lives.

On Monday, protesters clamouring against the excessive use of force and extra judicial killings by operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) took over the Lekki Toll Gate 1, barricading the expressway to prevent thoroughfare.

 

Protesters were heard yelling “End SARS” while holding hands to form a long chain that cut across the entire expressway.

However, the Federal Government through the presidency has announced that the “5 for 5” request – which is one the focal points of the protests has been approved.
