Wife of the Governor of Enugu State, Mrs Monica Ugwuanyi has been described as a “bringer of succour” by physically-challenged persons to whom she distributed wheelchairs.

The governor’s wife on Tuesday distributed 50 wheelchairs to physically-challnged persons across the 17 local governments in the state.

Many of the beneficiaries could not hold back tears as they virtually ran out of adjectives to describe the First Lady’s kind gesture.

To Mrs Ugwuanyi, lack of determination is the biggest impediment to success and not physical challenge.

She said that the only person that can determine how far anybody can go in life is the person themselves, adding that the physically-challenged persons could get to any height in life if only they are willing.

“Why is the lion addressed as the king of the jungle and the savannah? It is because the lion has a mentality of domination, you have to imbibe that mentality and the time is now. You don’t have to resort to a begging mentality,” she stressed.

At the event which held at the State Ministry of Gender Affairs and Social Development, the commissioner in the ministry, Princess Peace Nnaji, eulogised the First Lady for her compassionate nature and commitment to the welfare of the less-privileged in the state.

Adding that the state was in need of like-minded individuals, Princess Nnaji called on all well-meaning individuals in the state to rise up to the challenge of giving the physically-challenged a better life by supporting their dreams.
