Enugu Governor Peter Mbah Set to Defect From PDP to APC Next Week
Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, is set to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) next week.
The announcement was made on Friday in Abuja by the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and the party’s Deputy National Chairman (South-East), Emma Eneukwu.
They revealed Mbah’s imminent defection during the swearing-in of the newly constituted Enugu State APC caretaker committee, led by former state chairman Ben Nwoye, at the party’s national headquarters.
According to Eneukwu, Governor Mbah will formally announce his move to the APC at a special event scheduled to hold in Enugu next week.
Confirming the development, the newly inaugurated caretaker chairman, Ben Nwoye, said the governor would be joining the APC along with all his appointees.
“Governor Mbah and his entire team are set to join the APC. It’s a new chapter for Enugu State politics,” Nwoye stated.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, may also be preparing to defect to the ruling party in the coming days.
The development follows weeks of speculation about ongoing high-level negotiations between the APC leadership and several PDP governors across the country.
