EPL: Shearer Labels Man United’s Hojlund a ‘Damaged Player’ Amid Struggles

Former Premier League legend Alan Shearer has described Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund as a “damaged player” following the Red Devils’ latest defeat in the league.

Speaking after United’s 1-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, Shearer criticised the 21-year-old Danish forward, suggesting he has lost confidence and isn’t ready to lead the line for a club of Manchester United’s stature.

“I’m looking at a damaged player in Hojlund. I think he wasn’t ready and isn’t ready to lead the line at a club like Manchester United,” Shearer told Daily Mail.

Hojlund, who joined the club from Atalanta in the summer of 2023 under manager Erik ten Hag, has endured a difficult Premier League campaign, scoring only three goals so far this season. Despite a promising start at Old Trafford, the young striker has struggled to find consistency and influence games.

Last season, Hojlund managed 10 goals in 30 league appearances, but his form has dipped significantly, prompting concern from fans and pundits alike.

Shearer’s remarks add to growing criticism around Manchester United’s attacking struggles this season, with the pressure mounting on both the players and the manager to turn things around.
