Ethnic Clash: Makinde, 4 Northern Govs Visit Shasha Market

The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde and four Northern governors have visited Shasha Market in Ibadan, where a clash between traders led to loss of lives and destruction of property last Friday.

The Herald had reported that the governors –  Alhaji Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi state, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state, Abubakar Bello of Niger and Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state – arrived Oyo Monday night.

Makinde and his guests held a closed-door meeting shortly after they arrived the state.

However, the team visited the Shasha Market on Monday to assess the destruction at the scene of the clash.

Recall that Makinde on Sunday visited the scene accompanied by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State.

Expressing shock at the level of destruction, the Oyo governor sued for peace and warned against reprisal attacks.

He equally pleaded with the Yoruba and Hausa communities to live in peace and harmony.
